  1. Another boring tube. It’s designed well and will do what it’s supposed to – drive current into output tubes, but there is nothing special about the tube. There are some nice NOS tubes out there which will do the same job much better. Stock up on NOS!!!

  2. I gave this tube another go. This time I rolled the tube through all my amps and have to say that it’s not that bad. It’s not Telefunken – HF is over-emphasized, but the transparency is there. Sound stage is a bit smaller than Tele, but is quite well defined and airy. So if you haven’t ever had Tele, which currently sells for $80 for a quad, you will be pleased with EH. If you system is very bright or you are sensitive to high doses of HF, use a warmer tube in the input stage of the amp to calm down the HF.

Now, it appears that there are two varieties of this tube out there – one with long plates, older version, and one with short plates, newer version. This review was about long version of the tube that I have from 2004.
