  1. A very good tube. Very transparent with fantastic bass. However I did find to be not as transparent as 3 mica version Not a huge difference, but definitely a lower resolution in more complicated passages involving many instruments playing at the same time.

    It’s quite possible that it’s due to production dates of the tubes and the older tubes were just made better? 3 mica version had white labels and square getters, which places them before 2 mica version time wise. In general, 3 mica version was produced up to end of 1959 and 2 mica version was produced during 1960s & 1970s. However, I’ve seen square getter on 5814s with orange paint and I did see triple mica with orange paint, but I bet those were produced when the production was shifting.
