  1. Absolutely fantastic tube – delivers what 211 tube promises. Fantastic sound stage, gorgeous midrange (it’s so palpable, you can feel it), and tight controlled bass.

This tube takes the whole system to another level compared to the majority of new production tubes (although I haven’t tried Elrog). Also, compared to so said “GE 211 killers”, this tubes still could be had for a reasonable amount (around $300 for a pair). Elrog is over $1,000 for 2 and Psvane WE replica is about 2x more than GE. So you be the judge :). Based on my experience with the best new production tubes – they have a different sound. They are more transparent, but that comes at a cost of delicacy and openness. Just not my cup of tea. I would love to try RCA 211, but the asking price just doesn’t justify the cost.

So back to GE, the tubes are military/industrial production tubes that are designed to last 10,000 hours, with controlled heater timing, the tubes are reported to last 20,000 hours!!!! Sure, some preamp tubes like 6111W can last as long as 100,000 hours, but for power tubes, this tube is yours for a very, very long time. On average KT88 tubes last 3,000 – more robust SED Winged C 6550 can last 5,000 hours, but that still half of what 211 can do!

The majority of these tubes found on different sites, come from “golden age” of tube production – 1940s-1950s.

So if you need 211 tube, hunt ge 211 down – your ears and your heart will thank you. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
